Audra Blacktyde is one of two children, one half of a set of twins, and the only daughter of House Blacktyde. Despite having a son and heir, her father still taught Audra the way he taught his son. And her mother fully supported her husband’s decision to do so. She would not have her daughter limited in her education. (She would not have her daughter limited at all, but a woman’s position in society was sadly exactly that.)
So Audra learned all of the things that were expected of a noble-born daughter, expected of a proper lady… but she also learned how to hunt, how to fight, alongside her twin brother. The ins and outs of war, strategy and politics. From both sides, as her mother wished for her daughter to be able to navigate the complicated nature of politics and life as a woman in Westeros and come out the other side in one piece.
Sometimes, she would disguise herself as a boy and go out. Compete in tourneys alongside her brother. She would never let herself try and win, she couldn’t risk it as much as she hated to limit herself, but she let herself try and do well enough to come CLOSE. Before disappearing into the crowds and slipping out of her disguise. There are some tourneys where she can’t, where she doesn’t. It would be terribly suspicious if the only daughter of the Blacktydes was absent from EVERY tourney. So she competes randomly. Without rhyme or reason, with no pattern to speak of. And attends all the others.
